Clean
Cut
On the
2012 Autumn/Winter catwalks the look was sharp. It was clean. Clean cut lures
in the woman who has a predilection for acute tailoring. It is a look built
around no fuss structure. This look was applied widely to coats, trousers, polo
and round necks, skirts and dresses. A spectrum of materials have been employed
in this trend; textures such as felt, wool, polyester, plastics and jersey, as
they perform well in creating these very clean and lucid shapes. In this design
trajectory, menswear and the fashions of the early nineteen eighties are being
reimagined to achieve this very strong androgynous silhouette. This trend sits
in stark juxtaposition with the cinched-in waistlines which are another
prevailing feature on the Autumn/Winter catwalks. Many of these clean cut coat
designs are large and oversized, a direct eighties influence. Embrace the
trend. Avoid the fuss. Keep it clean. Look sharp.
