The girls Autumn/Winter 2012 catwalks saw a jungle of animal prints and textiles prowling down the runway. Be sure to keep your little lambs, snakelets and cubs warm this Winter in fake takes of their own skins. Swarms of leopard printed polyesters, lycras and furs adorned the catwalks. Lambskin wool also featured heavily on the plot. There was also a small zoo of snakeskins, Dalmatian prints and polar-bear-like furs. Entertain this trend and your little girls will be sure to make it through the season without a single roar.

The Autumnal-Hued Hiker

The Autumnal-Hued Hiker is a man who likes to blend harmoniously amongst the leaves and foliage on the ground of the forest through which he passes. The menswear catwalks of Autumn/Winter 2012 saw a multitude of designers dabble in the outdoors trend. Much of these catwalks were simply thronged with parkas, many detailing thick rims of lush faux fur. Beneath this parka were layers of fairisle knits, checked shirts and cottons. This ensemble was teamed with cord trousers, often tucked into hiking socks and a pair of leather brogue boots. The look is finished with a trapper hat or a woollen beanie. If there’s a chill in the air a fairisle scarf to compliment your jumper wouldn’t go against the brief. Everything is awash in an abundance of autumnal yellows, oranges, greens and browns. Also central to this trend were outdoor materials such as heavy oilskins and waxed materials to maintain waterproof qualities. Accessories are also indispensable. An Autumnal-Hued Hiker won’t be found in any forest without his hip flask and his rucksack.

Clean Cut

On the 2012 Autumn/Winter catwalks the look was sharp. It was clean. Clean cut lures in the woman who has a predilection for acute tailoring. It is a look built around no fuss structure. This look was applied widely to coats, trousers, polo and round necks, skirts and dresses. A spectrum of materials have been employed in this trend; textures such as felt, wool, polyester, plastics and jersey, as they perform well in creating these very clean and lucid shapes. In this design trajectory, menswear and the fashions of the early nineteen eighties are being reimagined to achieve this very strong androgynous silhouette. This trend sits in stark juxtaposition with the cinched-in waistlines which are another prevailing feature on the Autumn/Winter catwalks. Bonkers Chic

The Autumn/Winter catwalks of 2012 were alive with a riot of prints and patterns that collated in an eclectic and decorative mix to form a look that was very bonkers chic. This carnival of pattern and print varies in its origins. This trend draws on nostalgic patterns, folk weave motifs, graphic compositions, winter florals, as well as psychedelic and digital prints. To attend to the chic aspect of this look, this pattern and print pandemic can be located widely on elegant sheen materials such as silks and satins.
