Print-Making

For my third elective I chose print-making. We were given a brief demanding that we produce a series of prints to address the topic 'Defining Our Space'. My interpretation of this statement is how we give a definition/meaning of our space. I had a couple of ideas to start, in the hope that at least one of them would be suitable to print.

I was looking first of all at how we define our space through text. The names we give our houses,our streets (and the kind of attributes these names bestow upon our homes, estates, streets), warning signs defining personal space, road signs, words we choose to name institutions (eg. Limerick School of Art and Design, University College Cork, Limerick Institute of Technology), marking territory with graffiti, room signs, service labels (bank, petrol station, hospital etc.) and postal addresses;

I was also looking at how we define our space through vandalism;

And how we define our space through numbers;
